Several members of our laboratory, including B. Soberats, L. Rubert, and D. Martínez, embarked on a trip to Japan to participate in the 2023 Japanese Liquid Crystal Society Meeting held in Tokyo. During the meeting, the team presented the most recent results with an oral presentation and two posters.
During this journey, Tomeu seized the opportunity to visit the laboratory of Prof. Takashi Kato (The University of Tokyo), who had served as his postdoctoral supervisor (2011-2015). Additionally, he had the chance to reconnect with friends and colleagues, including Prof. Masafumi Yoshio from NIMS, Prof. Tatsuya Nishimura from Kanazawa University, Prof. Takahiro Ichikawa from Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Prof. Soichiro Ogi from Nagoya University, Prof. Junya Uchida from The University of Tokyo, and Dr. Adrien Kaeser from L’Oréal R&I.
Furthermore, Tomeu had the exciting opportunity to meet other prominent researchers in the field of self-assembly for the first time, such as Prof. Shiki Yagai from Chiba University, Prof. Masayuki Takeuchi from NIMS, and Prof. Shinichiro Kawano from Nagoya University.
Tomeu: It was a great pleasure to visit Japan after such a long time!!! I felt like I was in my second home, surrounded by good friends. I’m looking forward to coming back again next year and eager to show Mallorca to all my Japanese friends.
